Cryogenic Testing Center of Excellence

The IES Murrieta Test Facility (MTF) is a premier aerospace development, qualification, and testing facility specializing in advanced cryogenic fluid systems, with a unique capability for liquid hydrogen (LH₂) testing. Designed and built to support the demanding requirements of space launch, propulsion, defense, and advanced energy applications, MTF provides the infrastructure, engineering expertise, and operational experience required to safely test and validate critical cryogenic components and systems.

Our dedicated cryogenic infrastructure includes advanced storage, transfer, and fluid management systems capable of handling liquid hydrogen (LH₂) and liquid nitrogen (LN₂) across a wide range of flow conditions—from low-flow component characterization to high-flow system testing at hundreds of gallons per minute. The facility also supports testing with additional cryogenic fluids, including liquid oxygen (LO₂), liquid helium (LHe), and liquid methane (LCH₄), providing a flexible platform for diverse customer requirements.

The MTF team combines decades of aerospace engineering and cryogenic testing experience with the ability to rapidly configure test systems for unique development and qualification challenges. Our engineers and technicians routinely operate at liquid hydrogen temperatures of -423°F (20.4 K) and can create ultra-low-temperature environments approaching -452°F (4.2 K) using advanced cryogenic technologies.
