Vibration and Shock
Innovative Engineering Solutions (IES) provides advanced vibration and shock testing using a 16,000-lbf electrodynamic vibration system integrated with advanced data acquisition and control capabilities. The system produces sine, random, and sine-on-random excitation from 3 to 2,000 Hz, with displacement exceeding 2.0 inches peak to peak, enabling simulation of a wide range of dynamic operating environments.
For shock testing, IES can produce up to approximately 500 G peak on a half-sine pulse, with spectrum levels reaching approximately 1,200 G, providing the capability to evaluate hardware subjected to severe impact and transient environments. Our system supports up to 10 control/analysis inputs and 16 channels of data recording, allowing comprehensive monitoring and analysis of test article response.
IES also designs and fabricates custom vibration fixtures and specialized test interfaces to accommodate unique hardware configurations. Our engineering team works closely with customers to develop test setups tailored to specific requirements, ensuring proper load transmission, instrumentation, and test article integration.
A key advantage of the IES MTF is our ability to combine vibration and shock testing with other environmental conditions. For example, hardware can be subjected to dynamic excitation while operating at cryogenic temperatures approaching -423°F (20.4 K). This combined-environment capability allows customers to evaluate hardware under conditions that more closely replicate actual operating environments and identify interactions that may not be revealed through isolated testing.
Whether testing for qualification, durability, performance, failure analysis, or design validation, IES provides the equipment, engineering expertise, custom fixtures, and data acquisition capabilities required to characterize hardware under demanding dynamic environments.
